The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation & the Arison Arts Foundation have joined forces with 12+ arts funders to create Artist Relief, a $10 million national fund.
In an effort to support artists across the country (photographers, dancers, writers, actors … artists operating outside of institutions or on a freelance basis), Artist Relief will aim to make 100 grants of $5,000 each to individual artists every week between now and September.
Keep in mind, they are prioritizing artists who demonstrate the most severe need. Many individual creatives are being faced with immense financial burdens as they struggle to meet basic expenses for themselves and their families. Artists across the country are continuing to lose upcoming gigs and work opportunities due to the current global crisis.
If this is you — you can apply for the grant here. The first cycle closes at midnight on April 23rd.
If you’re able, you can donate here.
“… individual artists themselves are the bedrock of the arts ecosystem in America, and need our help before they hit rock bottom.” (Read the full article on ArtNet).
