PROJECT MANAGER

(PART-TIME/HOURLY/VIRTUAL)

about the position:

This person’s primary goal is to provide support to the clients of Good Cents Bookkeeping with CFO support and analysis. 

The Chief Financial Officer is a part-time position that reports to our founder and our Director of Bookkeeping Services. This position requires candidates to be available for regular meetings during the month, internally with our team and externally with our clients. Hours are typically 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. EST, Monday–Friday, but are flexible. This position is more about accomplishing certain tasks and objectives with a high level of responsiveness than adhering to a set clock-in and clock-out time.

The candidate should be technologically fluent and comfortable meeting virtually in a quiet environment that is distraction free. While our team highly values a deep work/life balance, there may be a few times when additional work hours will be needed on evenings and weekends to prepare for specific deliverables. 

The mission of the Fractional Chief Financial Officer is to provide strategic financial oversight and foresight. Your job is to ensure our client’s financial operation runs with excellence and provide our clients with the clarity and resources necessary to take advantage of new opportunities as their businesses scale and grow. 

This includes supervising the functions of accounting, budgeting, financial modeling, financial goal tracking, and financial report creation and presentation.

JOB DESCRIPTION

The mission of the Chief Financial Officer will be accomplished by producing clarity for our clients in the following ways: 

  • Strategic Financial Oversight: partner with our leadership team, and our clients, to provide financial recommendations based on analysis and projections. 
  • Budget Creation and Management: create and track budgets to optimize performance. From revenue to profitability, you will identify where a company’s financial performance needs to be improved or changed + help our clients optimize profitability.
  • Quality decision making: help our clients make informed financial decisions, from new product launches to adding additional team members, based on all available information sources. 
  • Design, implement and maintain KPIs including monthly cash flow and year-end forecasts. 
  • Create compensation strategies and bonus structures, and work through the financial impact of new compensation or benefit offerings to our client’s bottom line.
  • Collaboration: Work in conjunction with our Director of Bookkeeping Services to ensure we are meeting all of our clients needs with excellence. This includes making sure the bookkeeping team is completing all accounting functions, including recording of all transactions, posting of debits/credits, invoicing, payroll, and reconciliations with accuracy.
  • “Future-solve” problems – put yourself into the future, spotting and bringing accounting or management problems to the forefront before they occur

SKILLS & ABILITIES

The ideal candidate possesses the following strengths and skills:

  • BA in accounting or similar required; MBA and/or CPA preferred
    5-10 years of financial leadership as a CFO, preferably in a high-growth, small business or startup environment
  • Loves all things tech – you are an early adopter, who is a quick learner of new technologies and apps. You happily research, deploy, and debug app integrations. 
  • Should be a master of standard financial software such as QuickBooks Online, Excel etc.
  • You have an innate ability to take complex financial data and turn it into easily understandable reports and dashboards.
  • An expert decision-maker – you look at the big picture, analyze the data, and make quick, quality decisions and make recommendations with confidence. 
  • Strong communicator, both in writing and in person; passion and proficiency in confidently presenting financial information is critical.
  • Experience in working with a team-oriented, virtual environment. 
  • A strong ability to manage multiple responsibilities
  • Incredibly high follow-through. You have high standards and mediocre is not a word in your vocabulary. You love lists and details. 
  • A helpful disposition – it’s crucial you be 100% driven by a powerful and positive client experience 
  • You have the ability to use: Google Calendar & G Suite, Zoom.
  • Experience with TeamWork a plus
  • The ability to untangle, and solve, complex accounting processes.
  • You enthusiastically speak up when processes aren’t working to present solutions
  • Highly organized and able to anticipate the next steps or questions that may arise 
  • A high level of professionalism and emotional maturity.
  • Uses good judgement to act in the best interest of the organization and as a representative of the organization to employees, clients and vendors
  • You’re invested in becoming the best you can be and excited to work with a fun loving team who’s happy to help you get there!
  • Responsive and communicative. You know how to close the loop and confirm assignments are received and completed.
